Shearwater came to us with a challenge - they wanted to shift public perception of their brand identity, and be recognised as major players in the technological space. In order to achieve this, they wanted to launch the Pearl, an underwater node that would mark a huge leap forward in geophysics technology.
My creative team and I developed an entirely new positioning for the brand as a whole, moving away from the optics of an ‘energy company’, and instead reimagining Shearwater as explorers, first and foremost. This required an entirely new approach to the brand aesthetic, new brand anthem videos, product launch videos, animated explainers, and a live launch event held during the annual European Association of Geophysicists and Engineers conference, held in Madrid.
Filming everywhere from the fjords of Oslo to the docks of Liverpool, we created a suite of video content to launch the new subbrand identity, that made a remarkable impact on the day, and on the industry as a whole. The launch event has become something of a banner moment in the industry calendar, with ‘Discovery’ now a recognised as a ‘must-see’ annual showcase for bleeding-edge technological innovation.
